Happy Birthday, Phil Lynott

These words I wrote, play and sing to you
do not convey the love I brought and bring to you
For this is a song for while I'm away, to say all the things I'd love to say...
from 'A Song For While I'm Away'

One of the most thoughtful, intelligent and distinctive voices in rock,
the Thin Lizzy vocalist, bassist and chief lyricist would have celebrated his 62nd birthday today.
He and the band would release a series of consistently great and diverse records that
deserve far more attention than were ever afforded by radio or record sales.

Phil would unfortunately lose his life due to complications
from years of drug and alcohol abuse in January of 1986 at the age of 36.

Here's Phil & the boys' rendition of 'Still In Love With You' from Live And Dangerous,
commonly cited as one of the greatest live rock albums ever recorded.
