Screamin' Jay

On this day in 2000 the "Godfather of Shock-Rock" Screamin' Jay Hawkins

passed away from surgical complications.

He was one of the first entertainers to incorporate horror elements into his act,

famously rising up out of a coffin at the beginning of his macabre performances.

Here he is being his most highly theatrical-self,

doing a rendition of his most famous song, "I Put A Spell On You".
